![]() ![]() You may doubt yourself when you don’t know where your feelings and desires come from. We all want and feel things, and one of the greatest feelings is being in control. ![]() And the Fourth lesson is on being assertive. Having an understanding of who you truly are and what you really want is critical in exercising self-control, and you may come to realize your desires aren’t always what you think they are. We do things for a lot of different reasons, and often times we aren’t cognizant of why we act or feel the way we do. The Third lesson: doing things for the right reasons. That’s true not just for creative endeavors, but all areas of life. It wasn’t until last semester and especially during this semester I realized just how powerful, or perhaps rather how much more powerful the drive to help and serve others can be. For a long time I remained kind of a loner in ACM, sitting in “my” corner with “my” ideas. Indeed, it’s not about being “good enough” to belong, but rather belonging, in order that may do good for others. ![]() It’s being comfortably unique in your own talents and skills, strengths and weaknesses, styles and tastes - while being happy to share those things with others. It’s never blending in for the sake of blending in, nor standing out for the sake of standing out. Some lessons this semester taught me: First is on fitting in.
